The German-Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club, known as Hubertushaus, is an authentic German Club nestled on eight acres of countryside on the outskirts of Mannheim. The Club's Members originate from all parts of German speaking areas of Europe and have been flanked by second and third generation Canadians.
Our History
In the 50's, many new Canadians had the desire to spend their leisure time hunting and fishing in their new environment. Therefore, on January 21st, 1954, a group of thirteen dedicated men decided to form a hunting and fishing club so that they could become more familiar with Canada's wildlife and at the same time contribute to the protection and conservation of her immense natural beauty.
Tradition & Culture
From the very beginning the members strived not only to hunt and fish together but to interact socially as well. The first social function to be established was the Hasenpfeffer. Over the years this was followed by Hunters' Day, Fish Fry, annual Picnic, Schlachtfest, Jaegerball, Oktoberfest and the coveted Christmas and New Year's Eve Parties. To this very day, the desire to interact socially, to promote the preservation of the German language, to maintain German customs and traditions as well as the German culture remains a focus for all.
Our Future
We continue to have big dreams for our organization and thanks to a collection of members with diverse backgrounds who can provide broad perspective and valuable insights we will endure to shine. Involving new members and expanding membership embracing the next generations remains a priority to ensure a new source for continuous energy.
Please join us at Hubertushaus to feel the renowned atmosphere of true "German Gemuetlichkeit!"
